The Amtrak Downeaster is a reserved service and tickets are required prior to boarding. Fares vary by train and destination and range from $6.00 to $29.00 one-way. Choose from several convenient ways to purchase your tickets.

eTicketing: Print your own tickets, or have tickets emailed to your smartphone or tablet.
Quik-Trak Machines: Pick up and print out your tickets from a Quik-Trak kiosk. Available at all Downeaster stations except Old Orchard Beach and Haverhill. Click here for a demonstration of the Quik-Trak machine.

Amtrak Ticket Agent: Visit a ticket agent, in Portland, ME and Boston, MA
Mobile: Download the Amtrak application for your smartphone. Tickets purchased through the app are emailed to you to print or can be displayed on the phone within the app.
Onboard: Purchase and/or pick up your tickets onboard in circumstances where no other purchase options are available. Please note: onboard ticket purchases are not eligible for discounts or special offers. Conductors may charge up to $9 extra per ticket if you board the train without a ticket from a staffed station, or a station with a Quik-Trak machine.
What you need to do if your plans change: You must contact Amtrak if your travel plans have changed, prior to when the train you originally booked has departed. If you have not started any part of your journey and booked it on Amtrak.com, then you can modify your reservation on Amtrak.com; otherwise, you can modify your journey over the phone at 800-USA-RAIL or speak to a ticket agent at the station. Your eTicket will be updated to reflect your itinerary change, and any difference in fare collected or refunded. We recommend that you print out an updated copy of your eTicket, or obtain a new copy from a ticket agent or a Quik-Trak kiosk.
