The project includes a new passenger platform which will be built by MaineDOT contractors in front of the existing Maine Street Station in Brunswick. The platform will be used by passengers of the Downeaster and the seasonal Maine Eastern Railroad excursion service to Rockland.

The first shipment of rail was delivered to Rigby Yard in South Portland on July 29th. Pan Am transported it to Brunswick for offloading on Sunday

Rail used in the project is being provided by L.B. Foster and has been manufactured in Columbia City, Indiana. FRA provisions require that 100% of the materials used in the project be domestically made as confirmed by this USA stamp on the rail.

The impressive 32-car rail train carried 50 strings of 1,650 foot long rails. This train is the first of 4 shipments of CWR to be used in the project.
